Marriott International has created the Marriott Global Cleanliness Council as part of a multi-pronged platform to elevate its cleanliness standards and hospitality norms and behaviors to meet the new health and safety challenges presented by the pandemic. The council will focus on developing the next level of global hospitality cleanliness standards, norms and behaviors that are designed to minimize risk and enhance safety for consumers and Marriott associates. It is chaired by Ray Bennett, chief global officer, global operations and includes a number of medical experts. The company will roll out enhanced technologies over the next few months, including electrostatic sprayers with hospital-grade disinfectant to sanitize surfaces throughout the hotel. Other changes will involve guest contact through removing or rearranging of furnishings in lobbies, encouraging phone check-in and specially packaged room service delivered without contact.
