The top five cities for business travel in 2024 were New York, Chicago, Boston, Dallas and Washington DC, according to a report from FCM Travel. The company based its finding on an analysis of total flight bookings from the US that it made throughout the year.
Among the report’s other highlights:
- Second half growth: Philadelphia (up 4.8%) and Cincinnati (up 4.3%) experienced the largest half-year growth in 2024 (July-December. 2024 versus January-June ’24)
- Increase in travel down south and west: Orlando (up 10.8%), Charlotte (up 9%), Nashville (up 8.1%), Denver (up 5%), and Houston (up 4.2%) were the cities with the largest year-over-year growth during the second half of 2024, compared with the same time period in 2023 (July-December 2024 versus July-December 2023)
- Top five international destinations: London, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Singapore
Billy McDonough, FCM President, Americas, said, “It’s been an exciting year for business travel, as more and more companies have embraced the return to the road.” “In major markets around the country, he said, “we have seen a resurgence in travel, especially in cities with robust and diverse business communities.” And with traveler confidence on the rise and increased opportunities for growth in cities all across the U.S., said McDonough, I expect that the demand for travel will carry through into next year.”
