Expedia named Ariane Gorin, president of Expedia for Business, as CEO as of May 13, succeeding the recently resigned Peter Kern. In her current role, she leads the company’s global supply partner group, advertising business and B2B partner network. Gorin also headed Egencia, the business travel management platform, before its sale to American Express Global Business Travel in 2021.

According to an announcement, she delivered “outstanding financial results” at Expedia for Business, including B2B revenue growth of 33% in 2023 over 2022.

Barry Diller, group chairman, said the company “very much” wanted an internal candidate to assume the CEO position, and following a comprehensive search, “the board determined Ariane was the best candidate, given her exemplary leadership.” She has also been elected to serve on the board of directors.

Kern, who had been CEO since 2020, will continue to serve as vice chairman and as a member of the board, working closely with Gorin to ensure a smooth transition. He said that during his tenure, “we have quite literally reset the company for the future, and we are in position to lead our industry for decades to come.”

Expedia is part of Expedia Group, which has three flagship consumer brands: Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo.
