Two Avianca Airbus A320 aircraft on a runway at an airport. One plane is taxiing in the foreground, while another can be seen in the background on the taxiway. Both planes display Avianca's distinctive white and red livery with the company's name prominently displayed on the fuselage. The surrounding area features green grass, trees, and airport infrastructure.

Avianca will begin Bogotá-Tampa service in March, its first flights to the Florida city. This will be Tampa’s only nonstop link to South America. The Colombian airline also plans to add flights to Fort Lauderdale from Managua, Nicaragua; and from Medellin, Colombia. In Miami, Avianca will add service from Guatemala City and San José, Costa Rica.

The carrier currently serves Miami from seven destinations; it also flies to Fort Lauderdale from Bogotá. Avianca will be the only carrier serving the Bogota-Tampa route, while it will compete against American on the Miami-Guatemala City and Miami-San José routes.

On the new Fort Lauderdale routes, Avianca will be moving into markets being abandoned by Spirit, which is scheduled to discontinue Fort Lauderdale-Managua in March and Fort Lauderdale-Medellin in June. The airline will compete against JetBlue on the Medellin route but will have no direct competition on the Fort Lauderdale-Managua service.
