American Airlines has begun accepting bookings for the premier flights of its new Airbus A321XLR aircraft. Tickets are available for Flight 3 on Dec. 18 from New York (JFK) to Los Angeles (LAX).

Heather Garboden, chief customer officer, said the airline is “thrilled” to be the first US airline to operate the plane, which, she said, is “designed for long journeys with comfort and style at the forefront.”

Each A321XLR will feature 20 Flagship Suite seats, 12 Premium Economy seats and 123 Main Cabin seats. The aircraft will initially operate on US transcontinental routes, offering customers American’s recently introduced Flagship Suite lie-flat seats that offer privacy doors, more personal storage space, a wireless charging pad, cocktail tray and a personal reading light.

As American takes delivery of more A321XLR aircraft, said an announcement, the aircraft will expand to other routes, including international service in the first half of 2026, with additional details coming soon.

As part of the Flagship Suite service, customers receive priority check-in, security, boarding and baggage handling as well as access to the Greenwich Lounge at JFK.

Inflight Flagship Suite service provides a multicourse meal paired with wines, premium amenity kits and a duvet blanket accompanied by a dual-sided pillow with “cool touch” fabric on one side and traditional fabric on the other.

Customers who choose Premium Economy on the XLR, said the announcement, will get an “enhanced” winged headrest for increased privacy, calf- and footrests, wireless charging and hot meal entrees. These customers will also receive a personal amenity, a lumbar pillow and a crepe weave blanket.
