Navan, a TMC, unveiled what it calls an “upgraded” multi-city booking experience, designed to manage the most complex travel scenarios. Building on a major engineering breakthrough, said an announcement, the new functionality ensures travelers no longer need to rely on human travel agents for complex trips.
The new multi-city engine, said the announcement, offers the expertise of a seasoned travel agent through a powerful new algorithm that integrates modern content sources like NDC for better pricing, breaks down fare details for every flight and manages multi-ticket checkouts reliably — even across multiple carriers. This combination of expanded inventory and smarter logic, said the announcement, allows travelers to find and book better trips faster.
Ian Fette, vice president of engineering, said, “We spent years refining our one-way and roundtrip booking flows until they were intuitive, fast and beautiful.” Multi-city booking, he said, “is one of the hardest engineering challenges in travel, which is why legacy T&E platforms haven’t been able to offer it.” Navan, he said, “rebuilt our multi-city engine from the ground up, aiming to make booking a five-leg international trip as straightforward as a one-way flight home.”
The new multi-city booking experience delivers, according to the announcement: intuitive design, complete fare transparency, expanded inventory for better prices and smarter, more reliable ticketing.
Future enhancements, said the announcement, include contextual booking guidance developed by Navan’s top multi-city agents and AI-powered ticketing optimization. This will automatically find better combinations to optimize for both savings and the traveler’s experience, according to the announcement.
