Appointments and promotions at IndiGo and Starwood Hotels

IndiGo, the Indian low-cost airline, announced the appointment of William (Willie) Walsh as CEO, effective Aug. 3. His term as director general of the International Air Transport Association ends on July 31. Walsh was formerly CEO of Aer Lingus, British Airways and International Airlines Group. IndiGo has a fleet of more than 400 aircraft and connects more than 95 domestic and more than 40 international destinations.

Starwood Hotels has promoted Shadi Omeish to senior vice president of operations for the Americas. In his expanded role, Omeish, who previously served as vice president of operations for the Americas, will work closely with general managers and regional leadership teams to bolster day-to-day operations, enhance hotel performance and support the continued growth of the company’s brands across its 17 operating properties, according to an announcement.
