Wizz Air, a London-based low-cost airline, announced it has successfully acquired slots from TUI Airways at London Luton Airport. The deal means Wizz Air will base an additional Airbus A321 neo aircraft at London Luton, bringing its total aircraft based at the airport to 15.
As the largest operator at London Luton airport beginning next summer, according to the announcement, Wizz Air will be able take its customers to six new destinations from London Luton: Yerevan (Armenia), Alicante (Spain), Lyon (France), Corfu (Greece), Faro (Portugal) and Turin (Italy).
The launch of Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, introduces brand-new connectivity between Armenia and the UK. This previously unserved route, said an announcement, will now benefit from Wizz Air’s nonstop flights
In addition, Wizz Air is expanding its route network to include year-round services to Lyon and Turin.
Yvonne Moynihan, managing director at Wizz Air, said, “This announcement underlines our continued commitment to London Luton Airport and the wider UK market.” The carrier’s focus on growth continues, she said, as it has acquired two new aircraft and launched 20 new routes from the UK during 2025, reinforcing Wizz Air UK’s position as Luton’s local carrier.
