Delta Air Lines will launch service between Los Angeles and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey beginning April 12, 2027. The route will compete with United Airlines, which has a hub at Newark.
There will be twice-daily flights on the new Delta route, deploying Airbus A321neo aircraft outfitted with a 20-seat first class cabin and a main cabin split between 60 extra-legroom seats and 114 standard economy seats.
United flies between the two cities up to 11 times daily. Alaska Airlines also flies between the two cities up to three times a day, and JetBlue offers the service most of the year. Delta offers from eight to 11 flights a day between New York-JFK and Los Angeles.
In a statement, Scott Santoro, vice president for Los Angeles for Delta, said, “Los Angeles plays a central role in Delta’s network, and this new nonstop service to Newark reflects our commitment to connecting customers across key business markets.”
