Guidelines were developed by multiple industry segments
Airlines Reporting Corp. announced the publication of New Distribution Capability (NDC) best practices. The best practices were developed by the NDC Advancement Working Group, which consists of airlines, global distribution systems, travel technology providers, travel agencies, consolidators and travel management companies. Originally established in October 2023, the group has spent more than 50 hours identifying challenges and creating solutions for NDC implementation, according to the announcement.
Paige Blunt, senior manager of Direct Connect and ONE Order at ARC, said, “NDC adoption is vital for the travel industry to meet the evolving needs and expectations of travelers.” By embracing the NDC best practices, she said, “airlines, agencies and travel technology providers can take advantage of more personalized offers, improve efficiency and foster stronger partnerships.”
The NDC best practices contain audience-specific guidance offered for the overarching best practices when necessary. These audiences encompass commercial airlines, travel agencies (including online travel agencies and travel management companies) and travel technology providers, such as aggregators, global distribution systems, online travel agencies and other organizations.
