The U.S. Travel Association ran a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal calling for President Trump to lead in modernizing America’s outdated travel system – before it buckles under surging demand. The ad ran the morning of the president’s address to Congress.

The ad read: We applaud the commitment you and Secretary Duffy made to modernize America’s air traffic control system. It’s a critical step. But air traffic control is just one piece of the puzzle, and without broader action, the entire travel system will buckle under surging demand. TSA checkpoints are already overwhelmed, airport customs constraints are denying new routes and bureaucratic processes are creating severe backlogs for lawful visitors to obtain temporary visas. This strain will only get worse.

The ad, according to U.S. Travel, is just the latest step in the organization’s campaign to make modernizing the travel experience an immediate top priority for the administration and Congress, ahead of growing travel demand and hosting a mega-decade of events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics.

U.S. Travel, which represents the $1.3 trillion travel industry, and the Commission on Seamless and Secure Travel unveiled a report in February outlining critical steps to transform the travel experience. The organization has also launched a website, ShowcaseAmericanTravel.org, and released a video making the urgent case for modernizing travel.
