Turkish Airlines and South African Airways announced they have entered into a codeshare agreement.  Under the partnership, Turkish Airlines will place its TK code on South African Airways-operated flights to African cities including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth in South Africa; Windhoek (Namibia); Harare and Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe); and Mauritius. South African Airways will place its SA code on select Turkish Airlines flights between Istanbul and Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Frankfurt, Paris and London.

Ahmet Bolat, chairman of the board of Turkish Airlines, said the agreement “is a meaningful step in further strengthening our presence in the African market and deepening the cooperation between Turkey and South Africa.” As the largest non-African airline operating in Africa, he said, “we attach great importance to sustainable partnerships that enhance connectivity and cultivate long-term value for our guests.”

John Lamola, CEO of South African Airways, said the collaboration “reflects our shared commitment to strengthening connectivity between Africa and Turkey.”
