Carrier will transfer operations in 2026
Qatar Airways announced it will move to The New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York next year and will open a 15,000-square-foot lounge in the facility — its first in the US.
According to the announcement, the lounge will offer “efficient direct access” to the boarding gate. In addition, said the announcement, the new facility will provide “an elevated experience” featuring premium food and beverage options and “best-in-class” amenities including VIP check-in services, relaxation zones, prayer rooms, children’s play areas and duty-free shopping for Business Class passengers.
The new terminal is currently being built on sites occupied by T1 and the former T2 and T3, with a phased construction that is set to be completed in 2030. Ahead of that date, passengers can look forward to new arrivals and departures halls, plus a set of 14 new gates in 2026.
Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, said, “Our move demonstrates the evolution of Qatar Airways’ long-standing commitment to connecting global travelers to New York and expanding our services in the destination integral to our network in the US.”
Qatar Airways launched operations in New York in 2008 at Terminal 8 at JFK. The airline’s network in the US spans 11 destinations to serve more than 3 million passengers annually. With 18 weekly flights from JFK, Qatar Airways connects travelers from the US to over 170 destinations worldwide through its home and hub in Doha.
