Appointments and promotions at World Travel and Spirit Airlines

World Travel, an Oklahoma-based TMC, has named Alex Eaton, president, to the newly created role of CEO. Matt King, executive vice president, will become president. Eaton, World Travel’s majority owner, has been president since 2004. He will now focus on strategic initiatives for the company, including expanding its vacation department. King has been with the company for 17 years and will now take on expanded responsibilities across all operations for the TMC.

Spirit Airlines announced the appointment of Dave Davis as CEO, following the carrier’s recent exit from bankruptcy and restructuring of its board of directors. He previously served as CFO at Sun Country Airlines and was CFO at Northwest Airlines prior to its merger with Delta Airlines. Spirit also named Duncan Dee as senior vice president, corporate communications; and Trey Urbahn as senior commercial advisor. Dee has been an airline analyst who regularly appears on Canadian media networks; and has also served as COO of Air Canada.  Urbahn has an extensive career in the airline industry across five airlines, including Etihad, Breeze, Azul, TAP Air Portugal and JetBlue, spanning four continents, where he held commercial leadership roles.
