Carrier will retain other South Florida routes

JetBlue will stop flying out of Miami in September as the carrier continues to eliminate routes to cut costs. The airline currently has one or two flights daily between Boston and Miami. It was operating as many as 14 daily flights to and from Miami at its peak.

In a statement to USA Today, a JetBlue spokesperson said, “We continually evaluate how our network is performing and make changes as needed.” The statement continued: “To free aircraft for new routes, we’ve recently made the decision to end a small number of unprofitable flights including between Boston and Miami.”

The Boston to Miami route came into service in 2021 as part of JetBlue’s partnership with American Airlines, which is a major carrier out of Miami. This partnership has since ended. In the past, JetBlue also flew between Miami and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport; Newark Liberty International Airport; Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Conn.; and Los Angeles International Airport.

JetBlue said it will continue its flights to nearby Fort Lauderdale, where it has a larger footprint, and to West Palm Beach. Customers with affected flights can fly to Fort Lauderdale instead, or receive a full refund to their original form of payment.
