Alaska Airlines has set Sept. 12 as the date for new nonstop service between Seattle and Seoul on Hawaiian Airlines, part of the Alaska Airlines Group; the route had been announced last December. Flights will be on widebody Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
With the combination of Alaska and Hawaiian, said an announcement, Seattle is transforming into the West Coast’s new premier global gateway. By 2030, it said, the company plans to serve at least 12 nonstop international destinations with widebody aircraft from Seattle, including Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita. Daily flights between Seattle and Tokyo Narita begin on May 12.
Alaska’s Seattle hub is the largest airline hub on the West Coast, according to the company, serving 104 nonstop destinations across North America.
Andrew Harrison, chief commercial officer at Alaska Airlines, said that with the carrier’s robust network, “we can connect our guests through our global gateway in Seattle for convenient nonstop service to Seoul and Tokyo, with additional connections to other Asian destinations with our global partners, including fellow Oneworld member Japan Airlines.”
Flights will leave Seattle at 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, arriving in Seoul at 6:50 p.m. the next day. They will leave Seoul at 8:50 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, arriving in Seattle at 3:00 p.m. the same day.
