Atlanta to Orlando took over the No. 1 spot in the Top 10 Busiest Domestic Airline Routes list, according to the 2024 Busiest Routes report from OAG. The analysis, said the company, is powered by OAG’s Global Airline Schedules Data and provides an overview of route performance and trends, both internationally and domestically.
Among the report’s highlights:

  • The Atlanta to Orlando route had a capacity of 3.5 million seats, similar to the previous year, and to 2019.
  • Honolulu to Kahului (Maui), the busiest domestic route in the US in 2023, ranks No. 2 this year, with 3.4 million seats, 17% higher capacity than in 2019.
  • With just 14,941 (0.4%) seats difference, Las Vegas to Los Angeles follows closely behind to rank No. 3.
  • Rounding out the top five busiest US domestic routes are Denver to Phoenix at No. 4 and Los Angeles to San Francisco at No. 5.
  • New York (JFK) to London Heathrow is the only international route originating in the US to be featured in the Top 10 Busiest Global International Airline Routes list, ranking No. 10. The route’s capacity increased 3% over last year, with 4 million seats in 2024.
  • Outside the US, Hong Kong to Taipei reclaimed its No. 1 spot as the Busiest Global International Airline Route in the world, after ranking No. 3 in 2023. Kuala Lumpur to Singapore ranks No. 4, dropping from No. 1 last year.

The busiest air routes are defined as those with the largest volume of scheduled airline seats in 2024.
