The best overall US airport for business travel with 15% of responses is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to the first Business Travel Airport Guide from Corporate Traveler, the SME division of Flight Centre Travel Group.
The rest of the top five includes LaGuardia Airport in New York (11%), Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (9%), and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston (8%), with Boston’s Logan Airport, Denver International Airport, and Los Angeles International Airport tied for fifth at 7% each.
For international airports, Singapore Changi Airport leads with 21%, followed by Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport and London Heathrow Airport at 16% each, then Dubai International Airport (10%), and Frankfurt Airport in Germany (9%).
The findings were sourced through a survey of 100 travel managers at Corporate Traveler. The guide provides rankings of airports – both domestic and international – across several key categories, including security efficiency, convenience, accessibility, dining options, lounge quality and overall improvement.
Efficiency is paramount, as nearly half (49.1%) of all respondents cited efficient security screening as the single most important airport amenity, followed by quality lounges (10.7%) and fast, reliable WiFi (9.8%). When identifying top frustrations, flight delays and cancellations ranked highest at 64%, followed by long security/customs lines (29%) and limited ground transportation options (5%).
John Van den Heuvel, president, Corporate Traveler USA, said, that through the launch of the guide, “we aim to help organizations better prepare their travelers by sharing which airports are best prioritizing the traveler experience.” Given their years of experience managing trips at airports around the world, he said, “our network of travel managers is uniquely positioned to provide expert insights on the preferences and amenities that matter most.”
