American Airlines announced it will begin seasonal service from New York (JFK) to Edinburgh, Scotland, in March 2026. This will be the first international destination for the carrier’s new Airbus A321XLR aircraft. American launched seasonal service between Philadelphia and Edinburgh this year, with plans to start the season on that route earlier next year. The JFK flights will be complementary to the Philadelphia route.
For travelers seeking even more flexibility, according to the announcement, American’s Atlantic Joint Business partner British Airways offers nonstop flights from Edinburgh to England, Italy and Spain. JFK to Edinburgh will be American’s seventh new transatlantic route for summer 2026.
The A321XLR features 20 Flagship Suite seats, 12 Premium Economy seats and 123 Main Cabin seats. All customers will have access to high-speed WiFi and complimentary seatback entertainment featuring Bluetooth connectivity. American will offer hot meals and complimentary beverages in each cabin on transatlantic flights.
