American Airlines will add a second gateway in Venezuela in July and resume service to Haiti in November after a two-year hiatus. They will represent the carrier’s 99th and 100th destinations in the region. Flights to Maracaibo, Venezuela, will begin July 14 and to Cap-Haitien Nov. 1.
Nat Pieper, chief commercial officer, said, “American connects the US with Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America better than any other airline.” He added, “We are committed to serving the needs of travelers by offering the most flights to the most destinations in the region of any US carrier.”
With service to 100 destinations, American’s winter Mexico/Caribbean/Latin America network is nearly 50% larger than that of its nearest US competitor, according to the carrier. For travelers, according to the airline, that means more nonstop access to destinations not served by any other US carrier, including Ocho Rios, Jamaica; South Caicos, Turks and Caicos; Montevideo, Uruguay; and more.
