American Express announced its largest Centurion Lounge Network expansion to date, spanning four locations and further strengthening its presence in two of the world’s leading travel hubs, New York and London.
The new Centurion Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport, which will become the largest in the network, will make American Express the first credit card issuer with proprietary lounges across all three major New York City-area airports. The Newark facility is scheduled to open next year.
In addition, with the opening of a second Centurion Lounge at London Heathrow Airport (scheduled for 2028), American Express will become the first credit card issuer with two proprietary lounges at that airport. The company also plans to expand and reimagine its existing lounges at Philadelphia International Airport and Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport .
In Houston, the Centurion Lounge will see a significant expansion – from about 8,000 square feet to more than 23,000 square feet — making it one of the largest Centurion Lounge locations in the network. The lounge is expected to be fully updated by 2028.
The expanded and renovated lounge in Philadelphia will double the size of its current footprint from 6,000 square feet to two stories totaling more than 12,000 square feet. The lounge will temporarily close for renovations beginning Oct. 16. It is expected to be fully updated by the end of 2027.
