International air travel demand in November increased 11.6 % year over year, according to the latest monthly report from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It had increased 9.5% over the previous year in October.

The report cited “strong performance” by carriers in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region as leading the increase. Europe’s international demand was up 9.4% year over year, while Asia-Pacific international demand increased 19.9% compared with November 2023. North American carriers saw a 3.1% year-on-year increase in international demand.

Domestic demand was up 3.1% over 2024, according to the report, which was below the 3.5% year-over-year increase in October. Total November global air traffic increased 8.1% year over year, exceeding the 7.1% increase in October.

Willie Walsh, director general, said that November was another month of strong growth in the demand for air travel, adding: “The month was also another reminder of the supply chain issues that are preventing airlines from getting the aircraft they need to meet growing demand.”
