Advito, a global business travel consultancy, announced a new service designed to help organizations prepare their Scope 3 business travel emissions data and processes for auditing across any calculation methodology.
Business travel, said the announcement, can present a particular challenge because information is frequently fragmented across TMCs, expense systems and other data sources. For some large professional services companies, according to the announcement, mobility represents between 30%-80% of their Scope 3 emissions. New regulations are emerging, audits are becoming more demanding, and global companies have to contend with different laws and requirements across different markets, according to the announcement.
Advito, said the announcement, provides an independent assessment of the processes and methodologies organizations use to calculate and report business travel emissions. By identifying gaps before external verification begins, the company helps reduce client effort and friction during the audit process and may help limit the time required with external auditors.
The service, said the announcement, is designed for companies that require carbon verification statements for reporting purposes and covers Scope 3.6 and 3.7 emissions (business travel and commuting, respectively). Advito’s pre-audit clients receive a report outlining the consulting firm’s findings and recommended actions to take before undergoing a formal external audit.
“Travel data is complex, and even organizations with mature sustainability programs can encounter gaps when that data is examined through an auditor’s lens,” said Julian Etchanchu, senior director, sustainability and multimodal practices at Advito. “Our goal is to help clients identify issues before the formal audit begins, strengthen the evidence behind their calculations regardless of which methodology they use, and create a clear and concise picture of their business travel emissions.”
