Turkish Airlines will launch a low-cost carrier called AJet Air to replace AnadoluJet, which was introduced in 2008. The new airline, a wholly owned subsidiary, will begin operations next March with a “summer schedule.”

Dr. Ahmet Bolat, chairman of the board, said the new airline is in line with the company’s goals for the next 10 years. He said AJet “will become an important part of the low-cost aviation industry on a global scale.” The carrier will operate from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Ankara Esenboğa Airports.

In line with its sustainability goals, according to a statement, Turkish Airlines plans to operate AJet as “eco-friendly” and will enter the low-cost market “with an innovative perspective.”

By simplifying the services offered and utilizing an economy class configuration, said a statement, the company aims to reflect the cost advantage in ticket prices, making air transportation services accessible to a broader audience.
