Silver Airways, a Hollywood, Florida-based regional carrier, has filed for Chapter 11 protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the southern district of Florida. According to a letter from the management, “this decision will allow us to secure additional capital and undertake a financial restructuring that will strengthen our position as a competitive airline, ultimately benefiting you — our valued customers.”
The letter said the company anticipates completing the bankruptcy process during the first quarter of 2025, “emerging stronger and ready to continue serving you with the same dedication we’ve upheld for over 13 years.”
The airline said it would continue operating and that all tickets remain valid. United and JetBlue customers, including loyalty program members, said the letter, will experience no disruptions to their bookings or services. (Silver has partnerships with JetBlue and United. Its flights can be booked on the JetBlue and United sites, and passengers can earn United’s MileagePlus or JetBlue’s TrueBlue points on its flights.
In addition, tickets purchased through any other airline or agency will be honored.
Silver serves 22 destinations in Florida and the Caribbean, primarily from bases in Fort Lauderdale and San Juan.
