Travel agents can avoid fees by using carrier’s platform or NDC aggregators
Qantas will begin imposing a surcharge of up to $13 per segment on US point-of-sale bookings using legacy GDS technology beginning July 1, 2025. In addition, there will be a $3 surcharge on NDC bookings made in Sabre, Travelport or Amadeus.
Advisors wishing to avoid the charge can book within the Qantas Distribution Platform or via designated NDC aggregators.
In an announcement of its revised NDC program, the airline said that agencies booking via NDC will gain access to better pricing and fare options over time, as well as more fare sales. Advisors, said the announcement, will also gain access to dynamic commission offers, will have the ability to lock in the price of a booking up to five days before ticketing and will benefit from automated processes that will minimize the risk of debit memos.
The carrier also said that customers who have status will be recognized during the booking process and receive periodic special offers.
