Oneworld has named Ole Orvér as its new CEO. He will join the airline alliance on April 1. A Swedish national, Orvér brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the role, according to the announcement.
Most recently, Orvér served as chief commercial officer at Finnair, a Oneworld member airline where, according to the announcement, “he transformed the airline’s commercial and network strategy and introduced major new revenue and loyalty initiatives.”
Robert Isom, American Airlines’ CEO and current chairman of Oneworld’s governing board, said of Orvér’s appointment, “With his proven track record of driving commercial performance, deep knowledge of airline partnerships and extensive international experience, he will continue to deliver on the slate of forthcoming customer-first initiatives that further strengthen Oneworld’s position as the world’s premium airline alliance.”
Prior to Finnair, Orvér served as senior vice president – network management at Qatar Airways, another Oneworld member. Previously he served in leadership roles at Air Berlin, LOT Polish Airlines and SAS Scandinavian Airlines.
“Together with our member airlines,” said Orvér, “we will continue the work to showcase the world’s premium alliance, elevate the customer journey and unlock new tools and technology.”
Orvér replaces outgoing CEO Nathaniel Pieper, who recently took on the chief commercial officer role at American Airlines.
