Air India will absorb Vistara, an Indian airline, on Nov. 12, and the Vistara brand will be terminated, according to an announcement from Vistara. The move is part of a plan announced by Vistara owners Air India and Singapore Air in late 2022 to merge Vistara and Air India and terminate the Vistara brand. It can go forward now because the Indian government has approved a direct investment by Singapore Air into Air India.

Air India owner Tata Sons launched Vistara in 2015 in partnership with Singapore Air, which owns 49% of the carrier.
In November 2022, Tata and Singapore Air agreed to eliminate the Vistara brand in conjunction with Singapore investing $250 million for a 25.1% stake in Air India Group, which also includes Air India Express and AirAsia India.

Vistara said that beginning Sept. 3, customers will progressively not be able to make bookings for travel after Nov. 11. Itineraries will be bookable through Air India.
