Delta Air Lines will introduce its next generation business class suites on its new Airbus A350-1000 planes, due to begin arriving next year. The aircraft will have 53 suites, a third more than current versions. The airline has ordered 20 A350-1000s, the largest A350 model, with eight expected next year and the remainder by the end of 2028.
The new suites feature longer lie-flat beds, sliding doors, pillowtop cushions, wireless charging and 24-inch 4K seatback screens. The A350-1000’s extended range allows for routes to long-distance destinations, though exact schedules have not yet been announced.
Delta will also retrofit 42 older Airbus A330s with updated business-class suites and amenities. Retrofits on older A330s begin in September, but these will receive the current suite design with select new features, not the full next-generation product. By 2030, 90% of business-class seats are expected to be suites with privacy doors, except on certain aircraft types.
The A350-1000 business class cabin will also have a self-service snack station available to passengers throughout the flight. The snack station will also be placed in Delta One cabins of the airline’s retrofitted A330 aircraft.
Premium Select and main cabin seats will also see upgrades, including larger screens and Bluetooth connectivity throughout the aircraft. Economy cabin seats, including Comfort Plus extra-legroom seats, will get an additional inch of legroom. The extra inch will be achieved through ergonomic contouring, according to the airline, but without using slimline seats. The space between rows in the economy cabins will not change.
