Delta Air Lines will introduce new cabin interiors beginning this fall on a Boeing 757 narrowbody. The changes will involve new color palettes, seat covers and lighting accents. The carrier will begin offering the new look on an Airbus A350 widebody early next year, with the entire fleet displaying the new design over the next few years.
The new colors, according to the carrier, are softer, warmer and more modern than current Delta schemes. Seats aircraft-wide will be fitted with memory foam cushions.
Delta One business class cabins will get seat covers made of a breathable wool and nylon blend. Covers on other Delta seats will be made of leather.
Enhanced lighting programs, according to Delta, have been intentionally designed to create a cohesive and calming onboard environment, with mood lighting designed to suit each phase of the flight so that customers will feel well grounded and better adjusted to their time zone. Lighting at boarding will be deployed to make the cabin feel spacious. During meals, hues will be cued to have a candlelight feel. And as the lights are dimmed for sleep, the airline will slowly remove blue light while bringing in warm, amber tones reminiscent of a sunset, the carrier said.
Changes will also be made to aircraft lavatories, on bulkheads and to ceiling patterns.
