Expansion gives customers access to broader network

Delta Air Lines and LATAM, the South American airline, have expanded the scope of their joint venture (JV) to include Argentina, building on two years of what the carriers call a successful partnership. The expansion will give customers access to a broader network of more than 200 destinations across the US, Canada and Argentina, delivering enhanced travel options and a more consistent customer experience.

With this agreement, said an announcement, customers in Argentina will benefit from improved connectivity to Delta’s comprehensive network in North America, as well as the ability to earn miles across both carriers’ frequent flyer programs—Delta SkyMiles and LATAM Pass.

The JV offers reciprocal benefits for SkyMiles and LATAM Pass members. In addition to earning miles, SkyMiles members can already redeem miles on LATAM-operated flights. In the months ahead, LATAM Pass members will gain the same ability to redeem on Delta-operated flights. This further expands travel opportunities and access to a robust network spanning both continents. Elite members of both programs will also enjoy enhanced benefits, including access to Delta Sky Clubs and LATAM Lounges, priority check-in and boarding, additional baggage allowances, and complimentary seat selection.

Delta and LATAM have obtained the final prior regulatory approval required to implement Argentina’s addition to the joint venture. Likewise, the companies have already notified the operation for post-implementation evaluation by the National Commission for the Defense of Competition in Argentina.
