Report shows five best plans save members an average of 11%
Choice Privileges was rated the best hotel loyalty program overall by WalletHub, a personal financial services firm. Choice’s plan earned a rating of 64 out of a possible 100. It was followed in order by World of Hyatt, Wyndham Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy and Sonesta Travel Pass. Among the other findings:
- Significant savings available: The five best hotel rewards programs save their members an average of 11%. In some cases, members can save as much as 14% at select hotels.
- Award nights at any property: Six of the top nine hotel rewards programs allow members to redeem points for award nights at all brands/properties (Marriott Bonvoy, Choice Privileges and IHG One Rewards are the exceptions.)
- Rewards that never expire are rare: Best Western is the only major hotel chain whose points do not expire due to account inactivity.
- Best hotel credit card: Choice Privileges Select Mastercard is 2025’s best hotel credit card, according to WalletHub’s editors. It stands out because it can save the average person roughly $4,148 over the course of two years.
It’s good for consumers to know what they’re looking for in a loyalty program, said the report, because few plans rank in the top five in more than three of the major categories that WalletHub considered. Purchasing hotel rewards points, for example, is a rip-off with some programs, while others make it a good value.
Hotel rewards programs are offering 0.25% more value now than they did one year ago, on average. Choice Privileges accounts for 33.15% of this increase.
