American Airlines announced a number of enhancements to its two-year-old AAdvantage Business program, which is targeted at small and mid-size businesses (SMEs). Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, the plan will introduce updates designed to make unlocking redemption benefits for companies easier, including:

  • Calendar-year reset: Companies will qualify for redemption benefits on a calendar- year basis. Once a company qualifies, these benefits remain active through the end of the current calendar year and the entire following year — up to 24 months.
  • More opportunities: Every dollar spent on eligible employee travel will count toward unlocking redemption benefits for a business. This will include spending for nonregistered travelers booked under the business account.

These updates, according to the announcement, ensure that every mile and every trip matter, bringing even more transparency and value to the program.

A new AAdvantage Business Select tier, said the announcement, is designed to reward businesses as they grow. Companies with a program spend of $250,000 or more unlock exclusive savings of up to 4%, preferred boarding for their travelers and immediate access to redeem or transfer miles.

With the Citi /AAdvantage Business World Elite Mastercard, businesses can earn even more with everyday spending. When the card is used for business purchases, the company earns additional AAdvantage miles, while each cardmember earns Loyalty Points toward their AAdvantage status — helping teams reach their goals faster on the ground and in the air.
