Corporate demand continues to edge up in all sectors with the exception of the domestic French market, which continues to be very far from 2019 levels, according to Benjamin Smith, CEO, speaking on a second quarter earnings call.

The airline reported $8.3 billion in second quarter revenue, up 14.1% year over year; and an increase of 8% passengers compared with a year earlier.

Speaking of the domestic French market, Smith said the carrier is seeing decreases in demand and is pulling capacity accordingly. He said the North Atlantic and South Atlantic markets were performing “extremely well” both on the business front and in high-end leisure. “Our premium cabins are doing very, very well,” he said.

The airline reported second quarter net income of $663 million, up from $355.6 million in the same period of 2022. Capacity was at 92% compared with the second quarter of 2019. Air France-KLM projects third quarter capacity to be about 95% of 2019 third quarter levels, with fourth quarter capacity above 95%.
