Advito, the consulting arm of BCD Travel; and Tripkicks, a business travel technology provider, have introduced Carbon Footprints, a “turnkey solution” that, according to an announcement, provides travelers with their year-to-date air travel carbon emissions and historical trends directly in the online booking tool. Displayed alongside relatable equivalencies, said the announcement, the data provides travelers with a tangible understanding of their ongoing environmental impact as they make their booking decisions.
The integration is powered by Advito’s GATE4 methodology and Tripkicks technology building, said the announcement, on the success of previous collaborations between the companies. Carbon Footprints provides travelers with a running total of their individual annual air travel emissions, comparative trends versus prior years and real-time alignment. It is designed for corporate travel programs looking for a simple solution to help achieve sustainability objectives.
Julien Etchanchu, senior director of Advito’s sustainable collaboration practice, said that for the first time, travelers can see how their actions have an impact on emissions when they are making travel booking decisions. This collaboration with Tripkicks, he said, “educates employees and gives organizations a simple, effective way to bridge the gap between sustainability metrics and traveler behavior.”
Bloomberg, an early adopter of Carbon Footprints, helped shape its development, according to the announcement. Rafael Rosario, global travel manager at Bloomberg, said Advito and Tripkicks “have built something that does not exist in our industry: a solution that goes beyond abstract numbers and creates a meaningful connection between our travelers’ actions and companywide goals.”
