Evolution in the Mobility Marketplace

The technology that enables disruptive new travel economies can also paint a more vivid picture of total travel spend
Mobility is today’s ubiquitous technology that is driving change for both personal and business life. More than its antecedents, the Internet or even before that, personal computers, mobility has distilled all of those earlier capabilities into a handy-dandy palm-size package and freed it to go on the road.

Last year, 1.2 billion smartphones were sold, an increase of 23 percent over 2013, according to DMI, a provider of mobile enterprise and big data solutions. Thus, travel suppliers, travel buyers and travelers find themselves in a new world where old models and tactics are at best cumbersome and at worst, broken.
