Bidding Battles

Picking the right SMM technology platform and deploying it properly is key to the success of any program. And it’s not easy
An integrated, end-to-end meetings management technology platform is essential to the long-term success of any SMM program. And finding the right one is nowhere near as easy as it might look at first glance, partly because new options seem to appear to great fanfare on a regular basis today, and partly because the process can be dauntingly complex.

Although the two most well-known and widely deployed platforms are Cvent and StarCite, which was recently merged into the Lanyon SMM technology suite, other vendors such as SignUp4 are now emerging as major players.

“There are actually many different companies working in the SMM space, at least to some degree,” says Kari Wendel, senior director, SMM strategy and solutions at Minneapolis-based CWT Meetings & Events, a specialized division of global travel management company Carlson Wagonlit.
