American Express Business Travel has unveiled eXplore, a new web portal that provides a single point-of-entry to travel and related products, services and information but can be personalized for individual needs such as language, country, region and role. For example, travel or procurement managers will be provided with access to travel expense management tools. Individual travelers will have access to online booking technology as well as personal preferences such as news feeds, weather in select cities and links to favorite web sites. Travelers can be notified of changes in policy as they occur or become pertinent.
New functions and services, including next-generation profile technology, will be integrated in coming months, according to Lisa Durocher, senior vice president, global marketing. Among the first expected additions will be profiling of content to include traveler preferences and corporate hierarchy. Future capabilities include dining and entertainment recommendations, social networking and collaboration tools, and mobile device access. Integration with American Express charge card and international payments services is also planned.
eXplore is currently being deployed to American Express Business Travel customers in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and France. Roll-out to other markets across Europe, Mexico, and South America is scheduled for later this year and into 2010.
