JetBlue's new $743 million terminal at JFK International Airport made its debut this week. The new Terminal 5, which curves around the landmark TWA terminal designed by Eero Saarinen in the early 1960s, has 26 gates, 20 screening lanes (making it the largest security checkpoint in the US) and can accommodate 250 daily departures, says JetBlue.
At the center of the terminal is Marketplace, home to full-service restaurants, fast-food restaurants, bars, coffee shops and retail stores. The adjacent former TWA terminal is under the control of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which is renovating the facility.
