A collaboration between Delta Air Lines and the sports committee of GBTA has produced a more-efficient online process for checking in not only collegiate and professional sports groups and their baggage, but other groups of six to 40 passengers and their baggage. Under the new plan, Delta will offer a specialized sports desk for athletic teams and a group desk for non-sports groups.
With the new online group check-in process, a designated group leader can check in an entire group and their baggage online prior to travel. Boarding passes, with seat assignments, can be printed prior to airport arrival. Upon arrival at the airport, the group leader drops off checked baggage and pays applicable additional baggage fees.
Delta advises the departure location airport ticket agents in advance of each sports group departure to ensure all sports groups are greeted by a Delta agent. This provides a smooth process for baggage check-in so the group can quickly proceed to the departure gate.
The new online check-in process is available for both domestic and international travel.
