Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras, a Brazilian airline launched by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, has started service. Azul began operations with Embraer 190 and 195 service between three cities: Campinas (Viracopos Airport), Salvador de Bahia and Porto Alegre. The airline will begin nonstop service from Campinas to Vitoria and Curitiba on January 14. Azul intends to grow in 2009 to serve 25 cities throughout Brazil with 16 Embraer planes.
Like JetBlue, Azul has all-leather seats and will have individual seatback monitors with Live TV programming by the end of 2009.
