As part of its cost-reduction initiative announced on November 6, Avis Budget Group says it has eliminated more than 2,200 positions across all areas of its business. The company plans to close a call center in Wichita Falls, TX, consolidating its call center operations to facilities in Tulsa, OK, and Fredericton, New Brunswick. It also plans to close under-performing airport locations and a claims-processing center in Orlando.
In addition, Avis Budget has raised rental rates by $3 per day and $20 per week at all airport and non-airport locations in the US. The rate hike excludes corporate accounts and other negotiated agreements.
