WestJet will begin service from Calgary to Amsterdam on Aug. 5. The twice-weekly flights between Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Calgary International Airport will increase to three times weekly on Sept. 9. The route will be operated on WestJet’s 787 Dreamliner, featuring lie-flat seats in the business cabin along with on-demand dining and entertainment. The service is timed to ensure that transatlantic flights departing from Calgary are scheduled to support late-day departures and daytime arrivals. Convenient connections are available via Amsterdam to dozens of destinations, including Athens, Berlin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Munich, Vienna, Venice and more. John Weatherill, chief commercial officer, said the carrier is committed to putting international investments in place to support a safe restart to international travel. As of July, WestJet will be operating to Gatwick Airport in London from Calgary and Toronto Pearson Airport. Service from Calgary will operate twice weekly, while flights from Toronto will depart three times weekly.
