The U.S. Travel Association and a team of medical experts, as well as multiple travel organizations, have put together a “Travel in the New Normal” report that provides guidelines for the reopening of the travel industry. The guidance outlines six key ways the industry can protect travelers, including: adapting operations, employee practices and public spaces to protect employees and customers; considering touchless solutions where practical; adopting enhanced sanitation procedures; promoting screening measures for employees and isolating workers with possible symptoms of Covid-19; establishing a set of procedures should an employee test positive; and following best practices in food and beverage services. Roger Dow, CEO, said the industry will not encourage people to travel until public health experts and authorities have made it clear that the time is right to do so.
