United Airlines will begin nonstop service between Wilmington (N.C.) Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport beginning Feb. 11, 2022. The flights will operate twice daily on CRJ-550s, which the carrier calls the world’s first 50-seat regional aircraft designed to offer first class seats and amenities. The aircraft will feature:
- 10 seats in United First, 20 in Economy Plus, and 20 economy seats
- Space for every customer to bring a roller bag on board
- Self-serve refreshment center for United First customers
- More overall legroom per seat than any other 50-seat aircraft flown by a US airline
- WiFi connectivity
- Free personal device entertainment service
Ankit Gupta, senior vice president of domestic planning and United Express, said the route will connect travelers from Wilmington to one of United’s busiest international hubs, not only making it easier to travel to more than 50 cities in the US, but also opening up access to destinations in Europe, Africa and beyond.
