United Airlines has revealed details of the launch of its new premium economy class, set for early 2019. Sales of Premium Plus, the product’s name, will begin in the fourth quarter of this year or in early 2019, according to Andrew Nocella, chief commercial officer, during an earnings call. The physical seats will begin to appear on aircraft this summer and will likely be sold as United’s extra-legroom Economy Plus initially, Nocella said.  The executive said the new product “further pushes down the carrier to segmentation,” particularly with the mid-tier cabins. The airline released seat maps showing the new product on the Boeing 767-300ER, 777-200 and -300ER and 787-10 to flight attendants earlier this month. It plans to install 22 premium economy seats on the 767, 24 on both 777 variants and 21 on the 787. The carrier plans to have both its Polaris business seats and premium economy on all its widebody aircraft by the end of 2020, said Nocella.
