Splitty, a hotel search platform that combines multiple bookings under one reservation, has closed a $2.4 million seed round. The capital will be used to improve current offerings, expand Splitty’s product to produce more options to split hotel rooms, and meal plans. Splitty capitalizes on hotel pricing strategies by combining different rate plans from multiple travel wholesalers and OTA’s. As a result, the company promises substantial discounts and availability at otherwise sold-out hotels. Examples of booking combinations include: taking advantage of promotions, holiday pricing and weekend deals so that an itinerary might include one reservation for Monday-Tuesday and one for Tuesday-Thursday; staying in two different rooms at the hotel to take advantage of the best rates; and reserving rooms at a single hotel from different channels. As for getting a room in sold-out hotels, Splitty can determine if there is one room type for a portion of the stay and a second type for the remainder, avoiding what might ordinarily show as a sold-out situation.
