Southwest Airlines will eliminate nearly 20 nonstop routes around the country in response to customer demand, said the airline. Dan Landson, an airline spokesman, said the carrier is always evaluating its service patterns and performance to ensure that it is offering the right number of seats for the community based on demand from travelers. The canceled routes, to end Jan. 6, 2020, will include Austin to San Francisco; Boston to Atlanta, Kansas City and Milwaukee; Columbus to Oakland; Dallas Love Field to Jacksonville, Oklahoma City and San Francisco; Fort Lauderdale to Jacksonville; Los Angeles to Cancun, Omaha, Pittsburgh and Puerto Vallarta; New York LaGuardia to Orlando; and Orlando to Oakland, Sacramento and San Jose. Southwest offers daily flights in each direction on all the routes except New York to Orlando, which is weekly. Landson said one-stop service between the cities will still be available. Southwest previously announced that it was exiting Newark, effective Nov. 3.
