Southwest Airlines is partnering with rideshare company Lyft to make it easier for customers to catch a Lyft on the way to the airport. The Southwest app for both iOS and Android will alert travelers within four hours of departure about the option of using Lyft – and will show the time to the airport and estimated cost of the ride. In order to have the full experience, customers must be logged into the mobile app with location services turned on. Ryan Green, vice president and CMO for Southwest, said the integration aims to make this part of the travel experience seamless by starting and ending a customer’s journey with just the tap of a button. He said the carrier is always looking for innovative ways to enhance customer experience from the moment someone considers travel to the moment he or she lands at a destination.
