Arrangement will enable carrier to focus on travelers while exchange facilitates technical aspects of New Distribution Capability >>

Southwest Airlines is the latest carrier to join NDC Exchange, a platform for New Distribution Capability that enables content interoperability across the airline distribution system. NDC Exchange is a community platform created by ATPCO (the airline-owned data and technology company) and SITA (an airline technology company) that enables API connectivity between airlines and sellers using NDC. NDC Exchange enables NDC API format translation for any party (GDS’s, travel agents, aggregators, online travel agencies and TMC’s) on a neutral, cost-effective basis. Though NDC Exchange, said the announcement, Southwest will be able to focus on showcasing how it can help business travelers reach their destinations while NDC Exchange facilitates the technical aspects including onboarding and providing 24/7 support to aggregators and/or sellers. Southwest anticipates taking its first NDC Exchange bookings by the end of summer.
